The Problem with Eggs
Are eggs classified as "dairy", or not? If someone told you they were dairy-free, would you assume they didn't eat eggs as well as milk products? I have always thought that eggs were completely different to dairy but all the Australians I work with classify them as dairy. Is this some kind of Antipodean cultural difference? Or is it unique to the people I work with? Or am I in the wrong?
So many questions.

Now a dairy egg would make one big omelette!
ReplyDeleteHello Sawah,
ReplyDeleteas a food safety employee I would like to add to this conversation: the answer to your question is NO. You are soooo in the right my friend.
dairy = cows.
cows doesn't = laying eggs.
at least one would hope not. I mean really, would you be ok with watching cows lay eggs? eeew.
And I don't have a clue. I just think eggs are baby chicks. Everything in oz is topsy-turvy anyways.
ReplyDeleteOK, so there's a difference between vegan muffins for Birkinstock wearing hippies, and dairy free muffins for lactose-intolerant octagenarians and similar. Score 1: Sarah against The Adelaidians....
ReplyDeleteYou rule.
I think that this goes to show JUST how intolerably correct I really am. I am sooooo right.
ReplyDeleteCrazy bloody Australians.
