At the Beach with Emma
I drank coffee and she ate a lemonade ice block. I wore my shortie dungarees and my knees got sunburnt.
We watched two young punk girls building sandcastles. In fact, the creation was less a castle and more a kind of an elaborate sand palace, decorated with strands of opalescent seaweed and with multiple towers and a moat. The girl with the long fringe and green hair appeared to be putting the most work in, carrying buckets of water up to the dry sand in order to moisten it to a point at which it was suitable for castle building. They were well into this process when we arrived, and didn't let up for the half hour we were there commenting on the weirdness of babies and laughing at the highschool kids flirting with one another.
About five minutes before we left we heard the two girls shrieking "I hate you! I hate you!" as they jumped on their castle with relish, destroying the palace and working the seaweed into the sand. And frightening the weird looking babies.
Those girls were so hard core.
