Monday at work and scraping myself out of bed
I feel maybe it is impossible for one person to yawn so much and I might turn my own head inside out any second now. Stoneover methinks.
New flat/new flatmates - flat is fabulous, flatmates are mad, mad, mad. Peter is maybe the most anal man I have ever lived with... but only in regards to tidiness, and not cleanliness bugger it. There is too much TV watching which is actually a little depressing actually - this amazing view over the city from the lounge and then these two men resolutely ignoring the outside to fully immerse themselves in totally banal American popular culture. Pah! I say.
My room is wonderful wonderful wonderful; views over the city and the harbour and then a big sycamore tree in front of my window and I feel as though I'm in a nest or a tree hut, the windows all around make me think of Margaret's Museum or a book I read once called Ahab's Wife, where the main character had what Annie Proulx describes in The Shipping News as a "Sailor's wife's view of the harbour"... I'm looking out to see for my long lost sailor type man, hoping he'll sail in on a ship of many colours to whisk me away somewhere exotic and beautiful and perhaps tropical. Yeah.
According to the Dominion Post this morning the weather yesterday reached almost record highs - 29 degrees in some parts of Wellington. Bizarre - hot and muggy Wellington in December when normally there is torrential downpours and freezing winds till half way through January at least.
