Last night was the Great Mother-Boy Meet Up. In an effort to assuage my nervousness I got ridiculous on the cooking front - nothing would do but cooking something Huge and New. Thus I made a Moroccan roast chicken with cous cous salad and a spinach salad. It was *awesome* if I do say so myself. I used this recipe for Roasted Organic Chicken with Moroccan Spices, and this recipe for the spice mix ras el-hanout... it comes via the ever fabulous Peta Mathias, and is the cheaty New Zealand based version (i.e. it leaves out the orris root and belladonna. Neither of which are in especially large supply in Wellington).
On Saturday I was at Whipper Snapper - the Peter/Bex Birthday extravaganza. I have many photos! And will blog the lot more fully later... but suffice to say I spent the whole day pigging out on fairy bread and cup cakes and fresh fruit. The meal culminated with the hugest amount of Fish and Chips I think I've ever seen in one place. Ten scoops of chips apparently. Yum! Fish and chips and beer = summer.
Summer, salad, picnics, beach, HOORAY. Bring on the summer! Now I am going to cook some sausages.
