Arohanui - a remote edition

  • ANTICIPATION: "Skate of Emergency" - after the Apprehension comes the Good Excitement. I can't wait to skate with the amazing strong women on my team, and I'm really excited about showing off what I've been doing for the last eighteen months to my friends and family! I'm proud of me, and it feels fantastic.
  • Bananas. When I was growing up I absolutely loathed bananas. I hated pretty much everything about them and there was a family legend that attributed to this loathing to my mother giving me so many of them when I was little. Over the last few months I have revisited the Banana for the first time in over twenty years and I am a convert, I can't get enough of them. I bought a banana case to prevent bruising
  • Riding my bicycle in cullottes. I feel deliciously nutty.
  • Figuring out how to blog remotely, i.e. through email, and successfully linking my Blogger account to the Google identity that I actually use. Hah! Bow before me puny technology; I shall win!
  • The fact that this cake exists makes me extremely happy. Ree Drummond at the Pioneer Woman posted the recipe; it’s an Apple Cake made in a cast iron skillet. I want a cast iron skillet anyhow and now I NEED one, because this cake must be made and eaten by me. It looks simply amazing.
  • Knitting knitting knitting: little bits and socks and the cardigan thingy made of the special paper yarn. Pretty!
