I’ve made fourteen resolutions for spring. They’re mostly to do with decluttering parts of my life, taking better care of myself and keeping on top of my money situation. Decluttering because during the winter months my room seems to have become more cluttered and it’s small enough for even a slight increase in clutter to be overwhelming. Money because I have fallen off the wagon lately and I need to reassert control over my income and expenses. Modest my income may be, but it’s more than enough for me to live comfortably and have a proportionally modest social life - provided I manage it well.
In no particular order the resolutions are:
- Instigate a one-in one-out rule for my limited book shelf space
- Return all my library items on time
- Regularly clean my shoes, check which of them need re-soling, re-lacing or turfing and take any that need repairs made to the shoe repairer (I’ve had two pairs of summer shoes done recently so I’ve made a good start on this)
- Have my coats dry cleaned and prepare them for summer storage
- Wash my winter clothes and pack them up for summer storage
- Sort through my winter clothes and get rid of anything I didn’t wear during the season
- Turf the ratty undies
- Sell my roller skates (BAH, but it must be done. I haven’t been using them at all and I’m strapped for cash)
- Get my bike-serviced, the crank arm fixed, and ride it everywhere
- Restrict espresso coffee buying to Monday, Friday and one day in the weekend
- Spend cash and stop using my debit card so freely
- Stick to my budget
- Be honest about how long it takes me to get ready in the morning and rework my morning schedule
- Arrive at school on time
The rest of September, October and November look to be particularly smug months. Excellent.
Tell me if you have resolutions for the change of season?
