In praise of baking soda

The other week I went away to a conference for work. When I unpacked my bag in the hotel room, I discovered that I was completely without toothpaste. I did however have a small quantity of that excellent cleansing substance known as baking soda.

This meant that whilst I was away from my house, the baking soda served the purpose of:

• facial exfoliant,
• no-poo shampoo,
• dry shampoo,
• toothpaste,

and, of course:

• smug-making substance.

Baking soda: don't leave home without it.
